BioAustin Continues Advancement with 2009 Board of Directors

BioAustin, an industry-led organization dedicated to the advancement of the bioscience industry in the Austin region, is pleased to announce the 2009 Board of Directors chaired by Dr. Curt Bilby, President and CEO of Terapio Corporation.

The BioAustin Council 2009 Board of Directors:

“We are both excited and honored to have such a high caliber Board of Directors,” said Dr. Bilby. “Their combined experience, acumen and proven success within the bioscience industry will be an added advantage to our companies and will be integral as we address key issues facing the industry overall and our region in particular.”

BioAustin, formed in 2007 under the auspices of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, represents more than 100 different bioscience companies and is dedicated to promoting and serving the industry in Texas and locally in the greater Austin metropolitan area. Central Texas has proven itself to be a great source of activity in the bioscience industries over the last few years and BioAustin has continually worked to cultivate and encourage growth, support and attract bio-related companies to the area and foster collaboration within the life science community.

One of the ways BioAustin has positively contributed to Central Texas is through their collaboration with the Texas Emerging Technology Fund and the Central Texas Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization (CenTex RCIC). Central Texas life science companies who have received this award include Monebo Technologies, Quantum Logic Devices, Terapio, NanoMedical Systems, Mystic Pharmaceuticals and Agile Planet which total $8.1 million. This makes up approximately 41% of the total monies awarded to the Central Texas region.
