| Xtreme Power Selected as Texas Emerging Technology Fund Recipient
The Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Central Texas Regional Center of Innovation and Commercialization (CenTex RCIC) announced the state of Texas has chosen Xtreme Power, Inc., a Central Texas company located just south of Austin in Kyle, as a recipient of an award funded through the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF). Xtreme Power will receive a $2,000,000 project grant to help accelerate commercialization of its large-scale load leveling products. “Xtreme Power is excited and honored to be selected as an ETF recipient,” stated Carlos Coe, Xtreme’s Chief Executive Officer. “We will work immediately to construct the large-scale load leveling units necessary to help our company commercialize our exciting product line.” Chief Financial Officer Michael Breen added, “This program is important to us because it allows us not only to accelerate our growth and level of service but also to provide employment opportunities for Texans.” Founded in 2004, Xtreme Power designs, manufactures and markets power systems products capable of storing, conditioning, and leveling electricity at extremely high efficiencies from 100KW through megawatt range. Their solutions to peak power demands offer low total cost, high reliability, small footprint, high efficiency, and long life with virtually no maintenance. CenTex RCIC, a virtual center that operates out of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, serves a fifteen-county region as a catalyst for emerging technology research and start-up incubation and focuses on integrating technology development and commercialization. The center also works closely with the Chamber’s AusTech Alliance, a group of technology businesses and organizations working to consolidate efforts that strengthen the regional technology sector and to keep Texas globally competitive. Jeff King, Chairman of CenTex RCIC and a partner at the law firm of Haynes and Boone, LLP, noted, “A panel of business leaders volunteered an incredible amount of time to review applications for ETF funding on behalf of CenTex RCIC. The level of volunteerism with all RCICs throughout the state is really quite extraordinary, and it is gratifying to see the generous support lead to concrete results.” The announcement of the funding award is the latest of a series of significant economic development news for the City of Kyle. “We are obviously excited to see a Kyle business receive this kind of support for their operation,” said Kyle City Manager Tom Mattis. “The expansion of Xtreme Power and the related jobs that will be created will allow Kyle to continue to grow into a community where our residents can live, play and work. We are here to show our support in any way we can to assist Xtreme Power, and all Kyle business, to achieve their desired success.” For additional information about Xtreme Power or this project, contact Breen, 512.268.8191, or at info@xtremepowersolutions.com. |
