University Extension is a non-degree, evening and weekend program offering college credit courses without formal admission to the University. Participants reap the benefits of a UT education, however, as courses are taught by UT faculty.
University of Texas Executive Education is part of the UT School of Business and has been helping executives around the world build more competitive, customer-driven organizations. Areas of specialization include technology, oil and gas, Mexico and Latin America and international trade. The Thompson Conference Center offers professional development, computer workshops and on-site training. UT IED—Training & Development has merged with Thompson Conference Center's professional development programs to form the Professional Development Center. Petroleum Extension Service(PETEX) is a part of the Continuing and Extended Education Division of the University of Texas at Austin. It provides short courses, training and materials to those working in or with an interest in the petroleum industry.
The UT School of Law offers Continuing Legal Education. Founded in 1883, The University of Texas School of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the nation. With an enrollment of 1,400 Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree candidates, it is also one of the nation's largest law schools. In addition, the Law School offers a Master of Laws (LLM) program for graduates of foreign law schools and a program for American lawyers on doing business in Latin America. Long recognized as one of the nation's leading law schools, it continues a rich tradition of educational excellence. The largest public university in the United States offers an abundance of industry-specific training and continuing education programs at a number of locations on and around its central-city campus. |

| Austin Community College
With approximately 27,000 students, Austin Community College has seven permanent campuses and more than 70 teaching locations throughout the city and surrounding areas. The ACC Center for Career and Business Development is extensively involved in the development of coursework and training specifically designed for Austin industries. The ACC mission is to maximize community and customer satisfaction by identifying, developing and delivering quality programs at an exceptional level of service which respond to business, government and industry employee training needs; enhance the community's workforce and economic development efforts; and help fulfill personal, occupational and career aspirations of individuals. Austin Community College provides contracted training to dozens of local high-tech companies. In the 1999-2000 school year, more than 4,526 employees of these firms were trained in ACCs continuing education courses. |
