The Chamber's Business Retention and Expansion Program—Portfolio Austin

Austin's existing businesses fuel our economy, provide meaningful, well compensated employment with excellent benefits to many residents, contribute to our community through many service projects and charitable activities, build the reputation of our region for innovation, and attract workers and customers to our area.

We recognize the enormous value your investment brings to this area as well as the economic and social benefit of the jobs Austin businesses have created. The Chamber's new effort—Portfolio Austin—A Strategy for Growth—headed by Pete Winstead of Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C., is a recognition of the fact that almost 80 percent of new jobs in this region will be created by employers already located here. The Chamber and our regional partners in economic development are committed to assisting existing businesses in every possible way.

This initiative identifies regional business retention problems and barriers to your growth and profitability. Our efforts are focused in the following areas:

  • Legislation-Local, State and Federal
  • Workforce
  • Local Government Services
  • Business Attraction
  • Business Leadership Involvement

A regional SWAT team is composed of representatives from each of these areas and meets periodically to discuss input from the business community. We pledge to facilitate solutions and to focus our resources on removing these barriers. We know you have a choice. We are proud your choice is Austin.
