Graeber, Simmons & Cowan, Inc. (GS&C) is an Austin-based firm founded in 1978 by David Graeber, AIA, Al Simmons, AIA, and Tommy Cowan, FAIA. Today in addition to the two founding principals, Al Simmons and Tommy Cowan, Tom Cornelius, AIA also serves as managing principal.

Specializing in architecture and interior design, the firm focuses on a range of projects, including advanced technology, corporate, finance, education, healthcare and living spaces.

GS&C provides accessible leadership through principal involvement on all projects and adapts its process to wide-ranging client needs and cultures. GS&C is well-known for its innovative problem solving and is in the forefront in the development of environmentally sustainable design.

The GS&C award winning interior design group creates spaces that are as unique as their clients and personifies the client’s branding and image in the process. GS&C provides pre-leasing consulting, as well as a full-scope of design services from the initial site plan to the finishing touches of art selection.

Professional Recognition

GS&C is the recipient of the coveted “2004 Firm Achievement Award” from the Austin American Institute of Architects. The Annual Achievement Award is the highest honor that AIA Austin can bestow on an architecture firm for outstanding contributions to the community, the profession or for producing distinguished architecture in the current year.

AMD Lone Star was ranked 3rd in Texas Construction Magazine's June 2007 list of biggest project starts in the state of Texas. GS&C is the architect for the entire project: site search, planning, site design, shell, garages, amenities, interior, furniture, and FF&E.

Corporate Responsibility

In addition to our membership in the Austin Energy Green Building Program, GS&C is also a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and is one of Austin Energy's Green Choice Champion. We are featured in Austin's Green Building Program September 2004 newsletter and has the only project featured in the commercial category of Case Studies. We are listed in the Austin AIA Directory of Sustainable Design Practitioners.
