Austin Energy is the City of Austin’s municipally owned electric utility that provides clean and reliable electricity at competitive prices for the greater Austin area. As the leading supplier of "green" energy in the nation, Austin Energy supports a number of environmentally friendly programs and provides to its business and residential customers one of the most comprehensive energy efficiency programs in the nation. This includes rebates to businesses of up to $100,000 per company to assist with efficiency improvements and energy management aimed at improving a company’s bottom line.

In addition, Austin Energy also provides customized commercial energy products including on-site energy systems as well as power reliability and enhancement opportunities for mission critical customers. While Austin Energy system reliability exceeds industry averages, the utility has embarked on a multi-year program of escalated improvements to further strengthen system reliability.

Austin Energy plays an integral role in City of Austin economic development outreach and serves as a strong indicator of the customer service focus of all City of Austin departments. City of Austin leadership seeks continuous improvement in the delivery of services and in positioning the City to meet ever-changing needs or to take advantage of opportunities.
